Please study the project DURBAN SINGS

and read the introduction to the book “Oral History in a Wounded Country:  Interactive Interviewing in South Africa” by Philippe Denis and  Radikobo Ntsimane (intro oral history in a wounded country

Be prepared to answer the following questions:

  • What is ‘oral history’?
  • Why do people do ‘oral history’?
  • What are its advantages, what are the dangers?
  • How would you imagine an oral history of ‘gangsterism’?
